Last week the Conservative Friends of Greece celebrated the coming of 2021 with its annual vasilopita reception- however this time with a twist.
As gatherings are limited and events postponed due to COVID-19 restrictions, CFG took to Zoom this year along with members of the Greek community, Archdiocese and Members of Parliament to continue the annual celebration and reiterate the importance of the vasilopita as an event that not only brings members of the community together, but educates those not aware of our traditions.
The Zoom celebration had the honour of Archbishop Nikitas’ presence in the call, and Members of Parliament experienced mostly for the first time the cutting of the cake, and learnt its importance also.
Members of Parliament included Bob Blackman MP, Chirstopher Pincher MP, and Mike Wood MP.
Councillors also attended the call, including Cllr. James Hockney and Cllr. Stephanos Ioannou who is also Chairman of CFG.
